Inclusivity and Accessibility

It’s been difficult to write in the middle of the pandemic while watching civil unrest on the news. I spend my spare time listening and learning about marginalized groups and the challenges that they face. I can do a lot personally by contributing time and money to activist causes. On the professional front, I’d like to encourage my clients to increase the diversity in their images, be conscious of inclusiveness in their writing, and the accessibility of their websites.

Spring Has Sprung

I hope that you are doing well in this, our 5467th week of self-isolation – or so it would seem. It’s hard. Some of us are managing young children, ageing parents, running our own businesses, and helping spouses run their businesses, all from the discomfort of our own busy homes. We are stressed. And if that isn’t enough, we’re bombarded on social media with tales and images of people planting gardens, baking bread, writing symphonies… Speaking of writing symphonies, this music teacher wrote a lovely song you might really relate to. COVID-19 Edition

The Premier of Ontario declared a State of Emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As an introvert and full-time work-from-homer, I social distancing/isolation won’t affect my work too much. However, with my husband back at his duty station overseas, the kids (and their significant others) have come home. They are all either working or studying from home. So now, it is like I work in an office. I’m not complaining at all. I’m a mother-hen, and it’s nice to have my chicks close.

Image Sourcing Issues

Searching for good stock photos is time-consuming. You can’t just pick any old picture from a free stock photo website and add an image credit to your blog post.
